the Purpose

The HerStory Collective is about amplifying the voices of women striving to live in their truth and empowering them to tell their own stories. It’s through storytelling and exchange of experiences where we learn that many of our struggles are commonplace.

Due to the recent overwhelming recognition of racial injustice faced by the black community, I wanted to create a space where black women and other women of colour can share their lived experiences. Your story doesn’t have to be race-related, but it’s important to recognize the intersectionalities of race and gender. Together each play a bigger role in discrimination as a result of both racism and sexism experienced by women of colour.

The goal for the HerStory Collective is to encourage women to be their most authentic selves in every space that they occupy. I want women to feel comfortable speaking their truth in a world that tries so hard to rewrite or even erase their story.

The overall mission of the Big Sisters Club is to uplift and empower young women to increase their self-esteem, self-confidence, and self-expression.

I encourage you to submit your story. Take ownership of your experience. Feel empowered to live in your truth and be the bold, fearless woman that you’re destined to be. You can choose to be left completely anonymous for privacy purposes. By sharing your story, know that another woman or younger girl will realize they are not alone. We aren’t alone - it’s just about finding the right community. That’s where Big Sisters Club comes in.
