The Big Sis Recharge šŸ”‹

If you're a big sister working on your goals but feeling overwhelmed in the process, this is for you

I started this series, ā€œThe Big Sis Rechargeā€, because I’ve been overwhelmed by the messaging and pressure to lock in for the upcoming fall months (but what were we doing all year???)

Through conversations with fellow big sisters and eldest daughters šŸ’¬, there's a common theme: we're ambitious and eager to achieve our goals, but often feel overwhelmed in the process.

But seriously, as big sisters, when are we NOT locked in? Some of us have been ā€œclocked in,ā€ handling so much from such a young age that resting and relaxing can even feel unnatural.

Many of us were raised to be high achievers while also being expected to help manage our parents’ household, support our siblings, perform well at work AND balance our own responsibilities.

It can take a few months to a few years to recover from burnout (Reach Link, 2026). Sometimes we think a vacation will do the trick, but burnout recovery often requires real lifestyle changes.

A few years ago, I experienced burnout myself. I was navigating major life changes within my household, dealing with grief, and struggling in a toxic workplace that only added to the weight of everything I was carrying. It took me years to recover, and I didn’t even realize how severe my burnout symptoms were until after I left that job.

Big sister burnout is REAL, and that’s why this series is important. It’s about making room to focus intentionally on our goals this season, while leaving the pressure, overwhelm and negative energy at the door.

Over the next few weeks, I’ll be sharing different ways I’m actively working to prevent burnout. I want this to be an exchange of learnings, so please don’t hesitate to share some of your own!

We’ll also have a few themed meetups lined up to go along with this series, where we can express ourselves and continue these conversations in person.

You don't have to abandon your goals to prioritize your well-being. You just have to stop treating burnout as the price of ambition.

What do you struggle with most when you’re trying to stay locked in?
